Marshwood Farm B&B - Access and Details

The Introduction

We offer two guest rooms in our home, set in peaceful countryside.
Marshwood is a Grade II listed house dating from the 17th century and whilst we aim to meet the needs of all our guests, there are some features which might make access difficult for people with limited mobility.

Pre-Arrival
We are located on a minor road between the villages of Dinton and Wylye. Whilst we are in a peaceful location it is not ideally situated for those travelling without transport. The nearest bus stop is approximately 1 mile in Dinton and the service stops early in the evening. There are several taxis companies that operate from Salisbury and we are happy to provide their contact details.
We are a working farm with sheep and for the comfort and safety of all our guests, regret that we are unable to accommodate pets. Brochures and menus can be provided in large print if required, but unfortunately we do not have facilities to provide these in Braille.
We can be contacted by telephone, fax or email (details in Contact Section).

Arrival & Car Parking
Please advise us of your approximate arrival time so as to be sure we are here to welcome you and that your accommodation is ready. We normally request that guests arrive after 3pm but earlier may be possible by arrangement. There is ample parking on a tarmac driveway. For unloading and loading of luggage cars can be temporarily parked adjacent to our front doorway. At all other times please park with front facing the central garden island. We offer assistance with luggage.

Main Entrance & Reception
There is one step 15cm down to our flag stone porch area and 9cm up into the flag stoned hallway 1.47m wide. There is a pull bell situated to the right hand side of the doorway.

the main landing (short pile carpet) which at its narrowest point is 1.06m wide. The Green Room is situated off this landing. The Blue Room is accessed by a further flight of 7 stairs 15cm high by 93cm wide (minimum) with side rails. Our home is centrally heated throughout with thermostats in all rooms, so the temperature can be adjusted to suit.

Bedrooms
Both rooms have short pile carpet. The beds can be accessed from both sides and can either be twin (2 x 92cm by 2m) or zip linked to super king size (1.84m wide by 2m). We can arrange for morning papers (at cost) to be delivered, again please let us know your preferred choice in the evening.

Garden
We have a large garden with lawn, flowerbeds and vegetable area (with chicken house and run). Guests are welcome to enjoy our garden. We advise that children be accompanied at all times as the garden does not have secure fencing, and there may be other guests. Access is via the front door round to the right (left if facing the house). There is a patio area, which during the late spring to early autumn has table chairs and sunshade. There is a brick built barbeque in the garden. From the main garden there is an archway leading to the wooded area (this has uneven levels and low branches and the grass is cut higher.

Additional Information
Mobile phone reception is patchy, some networks can be accessed by placing telephones on the window sills or by using in the driveway. We do not permit smoking in the house. Smoke alarms are fitted. There is a fire extinguisher next to the Blue Room upstairs and by the dining room downstairs. In the event of evacuation we will ring the handbell in the hallway. Please advise us if you may need assistance in the event of an emergency (fire or power failure). In the event of a power failure, lighting will be provided by 2 emergency lights at socket level (one on the landing and one at the bottom of the stairs).

Additional local maps and books can be borrowed, please ask. The waste bins are situated in the courtyard behind the cottage. Recycling boxes (glass, paper, tins and plastic bottles) are in the lockable shed.
